As Principal, Head of Site Acquisitions, Mr. Kimsey is responsible for developing and executing acquisition strategy for new development opportunities for Middleburg Communities. These responsibilities include sourcing and shepherding all new deals through the negotiation, underwriting, analysis, and due diligence process.
Prior to joining Middleburg Communities, Mr. Kimsey founded Wayah Wake Real Estate Advisors in Charleston, SC which specializes in providing strategic solutions to landowners, developers, investors and homebuilders in the acquisition, disposition, and development of single family residential real estate. Additionally, Mr. Kimsey helped oversee land acquisitions for a Top 5 National Homebuilder located in Charleston, SC. Before moving to acquisitions, Mr. Kimsey practiced commercial real estate and transactional law in Charlotte, NC with the southeastern regional law firm of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, LLP.
Mr. Kimsey received his dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) in corporate finance and real estate and a Juris Doctorate (JD) focused in transactional law from Wake Forest University. Prior to attending Wake Forest University, Mr. Kimsey earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Mr. Kimsey has his North Carolina and South Carolina law licenses. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in Charge in South Carolina. Additionally, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Young Leader Regional Initiative Council and serves as an alumni member to the Wake Forest University School of Law Rose Council.
