Adams Park teamed up with the Atlanta Police departments Crime Prevention unit and held a trunk or treat event for the community. Trunk or treat is a fun and safe alternative to knocking on people’s doors during Halloween. The police and employees at Adams Park decorated their cars and handed out candy to the residents of the community. The police officers also gave out coloring books and other goodies to the kids and parents. This event allowed officers to build positive relationships with the residents while also having a lot of fun. The kids were able to check out the police equipment and got to ask questions about the lifestyle, career and what it means to be an officer of the law. Many kids were inspired and now want to be officers of the law as well. The parents also benefited from this event by having an opportunity to ask questions about events that might be occurring in the area and build relationships with the officers. They also feel more comfortable and have said that they feel good about the police presence and seeing that the local police do have a buy in/stake in this particular community.
